Princeton, NJ--the approval rating for President Obama to work an average of 46% for the week ending 12 June, a significant reduction of the weekly average for most of May and almost back to the level before the death of Osama bin Laden on May 1.
Thus it appears a sustainable rally in support of the President after the death of the September 11 terror mastermind in many ways. Falling Obama in rating coincides with the increase in Americans pessimistic about the economy. But economic confidence, also increased after the death of bin Laden began to decline at the beginning of this month, possibly because of anemic jobs and problems with the slow pace of economic recovery.
Gallup poll in mid-may found that rallies in support for Obama extended to his approval ratings for handling terrorism and Foreign Affairs , but not the economic approval ratings.
Independent ratings down most
Among the guerrilla groups of independent rating Obama dropped the most in the past week, with 47% to 42%, with less reduction among Democrats. Approval of Republicans spiked up to 21% during the first week after the death of bin Laden with 10% at the end of April, before the 15% range, where he had with Obama.
Although approval of Obama rally largely completed, some subgroups are the Chairman of the slightly higher ratings than immediately before the death of bin Laden. Republicans are one such group. Two other Americans younger than 30 years of age (46% vs. 53% then now) and aged 30-49 (45% vs. 51%). in contrast, the approval rating of senior citizens, Obama now at 37%, lower than it was before the recent rally.
The Effects Of
Obama approval rating average below the majority of most of the time since the first months of 2010. Approval mark for the 50% is important because Presidents with approval ratings above this level always won re-election. Obama in the rating, normally held around Mark 50% in may, but the period above seems to support callers.
There is still plenty of time for Obama to restore, on the day of elections 17 months. Truly comparable moments of their presidencies, Richard Nixon (48%), Ronald Reagan (45%) and Bill Clinton (47%), all of whom were re-elected--have similar approval ratings currently Obama 46%.
